1. myth number one - You need to know journalism to became a blogger. Checkout sites at technorati.com. Search there for Nepali Blogs. Many of the popular bloggers are just like you and me!

2. Myth number two - you need to know english to start bloging. No! You can write in your language. There are many useful and popular blogs authored in nepali language. If you need help in setting up a site in Nepali language, we can help you for free. Let us know if you need that help. Also lookout for help at the blogan site on that topic as well.

3. Myth number three - You need money to become a blogger. Yes. The money for your internet access and the rest is free. Try blogspot.com wordpress.com or myspace.com to start blogging.

4. Myth number four - You have to write about freedom and peace and republic and politics for nepal to be a popular nepali blogger! Yes and no. Considering the current political situation of the country, users might be looking for related stuff in your blog. But there could be equal amount of users who could be saying “enough is enough” and they could be looking for other stuffs like jokes, poems, or simply a journal of your life.

5. You need to write regularly. Yes! Try daily if you can, otherwise weekly. If you do a lot of chatting on the internet, give that time to your blog. If you are blogging from cyber-cafes, you might want to bring along your hand written draft to save time and money. Spend less time visiting glamor sites that only provide cheap entertainments. If you are so hooked up into them, buy a magazine!! Devote your time for your blog. Regular blogging provides the “Food” to your visitors who will be coming back to see new stuff. If you offer them “Dheedo” that you cooked a month ago, they won’t eat it! now, don’t ask us what Dheedo is ? Have you had one actually, just thinking about eating it with a glass of milk brings a river of saliva from our mouth! We love Nepali Dheedo!

6. Myth number six - You can copy someone’s content and make it look yours and your blog will survive. No ! Your blog won’t. Doing this will make your blog cry! What does that mean? Your regular users will stop visiting your blog. You will rank poorly in search results. People will remove links to your blog. By copying, your blog becomes a thief. Avoid doing this. Write in your own words and style, that’s what blogging is all about. If you wish to use someone’s content, and want to write it in your own style, ask for permission before you publish. It is generally a good idea to give credit to the owner by providing a link back.

7. Myth number seven - A Nepali blogger is a blogger who lives in Nepal. That’s not true. Anyone can claim to be a Nepali blogger. By our definition, a Nepali blogger is a Nepali by birth, or anyone whose contents are fully geared towards Nepal and/or Nepalese. It could be a Nepali living in Nepal or away from Nepal. Or It could be someone who is not a Nepali but blogs about Nepal. So no citizenship is required to become a Nepali Blogger. That is how this directory defines the term “Nepali Blogger”

8. Myth number eight : You can only have one blog. No, you can have tons of blogs hosted on various sites either on your own or free ones such as blogspot.com The only thing you need to keep in mind is that each of your blogs carry unique contents. Don’t try to create bunches of blogs holding the same posts, that would be considered SPAMMING and probably your blog might get deleted by the service provider. Some people prefer to use a single blog and offer contents under various categories, which is also a good idea. But if you are going to write a lot about all sorts of topic, it might be a good idea to separate your topics by putting them on separate blogs. Having less choices helps make a quick decision. Don’t leave your readers with 10000 categories and expect them to go through it!!!! A blog that is fully dedicated to a particular topic can do better. WebLali’s Directory is open for you to list as many blogs as you own or manage, so go ahead put all your links here for users to find them. One word of caution though: Having too many blogs and managing is not an easy task. You will need to login to many places, write post for each blog so they carry fresh content, and of course working for blog settings, templates and maintenance issues such as data back. If you love to write, there are no boundaries as to how many blogs you can own!
